Consider it a beta, just like the application... Tongue out

I guess the post was a little scant on details... Smile

SubStage is included in the SubSonic 2.1 Beta 1 install:

codeplex.com/.../ProjectReleases.aspx

For the latest version, grab current revisions of the source from the SVN repository:

Hi Eric,

Very nice job and a very useful tool. It would be nice if a user could specify an output folder where the code files are written to (similar to having an external tool in Visual Studio that writes the generated files to specified folder). Have you given any thought to this?

Thanks for all your great work!

The app is amazing!

Tho I can't get the audio on the webcast to work right (it sounds a bit garbled). Is there a codec that we need to download?

Keep up the excellent work!

Geri: Yes, the output folder (as well as a number of other parameters) will be configurable in the final version. There will likely be a configurable global output folder that can be overridden at the project level.

Rob: I believe it's just MP3, but let me take a look and see if there might be a setting I missed...

Rob: I re-encoded the webcast... Please let me know if it sounds any better now...

Looks and sounds great, Eric! What I noticed from moving to the most recent builds is that the generated content is now going into one (root) directory whereas it used to go into separated Model and Controller Folders. The folders are still generated but empty, by the way.

Has this now become an configurable option as well or have I just goofed up the configuration? Is this even the right place to ask... probably not... but I saw in the Sceencast that the generated output was just in one directory, too.

One addition to SubStage: I know that this is not a great deal to do manually but I have you thought about giving the option to install SubStage as a VS Plugin during install? Just adding a nice button and an entry in the Tools Menu (or the Data menu Wink that fires up SubStage. This would make it super easy to get started for all the Newbies.

Great stuff!

Elmar,

I need to connect with Rob about why he made the directory change in SubCommander. With regards to SubStage, there will be options to change the output location soon, stay tuned...

Good idea on the VS Plugin... I've thought a bit about VS integration, but figured I would address that once the functionality stabilizes...

True. First things first. As mentioned before, the matter of doing it manually is pretty simple anyway. I just thought that this would add nicely to the general "ease of use" mantra that is floating around all of the stuff you guys create. Wink

Very nice app.

Is there a way to add custom templates to the code generation process?
For example selecting one or more tables or stored procedures and picking custom template?

Thanks
